경기도미술관은 경기문화재단의 경기 유망작가 창작지원 사업인 생생화화生生化化 2018 《Hard-boiled & Toxic》 을 개최합니다.

생생화화生生化化 2018은 경기도를 기반으로 활발하게 활동하고 향후의 성장 가능성이 주목되는 작가 10인을 선정하여 신작 제작부터 워크숍, 전시 개최까지 전 과정을 체계적으로 지원하는 경기도의 대표적인 시각예술 지원 프로그램입니다.

전시에 참여하는 김나영&그레고리 마스, 김동현, 김은형, 박혜수, 송민철, 윤성지, 은숙, 전혜림, 홍기원, 홍남기 작가는 개인적인 관심사부터 현대사회의 구조까지 폭넓은 주제로 현대미술의 경계를 탐구하고 있습니다. 직접적인 표현이나 설명 대신 현재 우리가 직면하고 있는 불완전한 사회의 이면과 그 안에서 살아가는 우리의 내면세계를 담담하게 재현하거나 재구성하여 본질에 다가가고자 합니다.

현대사회의 특징과 이를 바라보는 참여작가들의 관점과 태도를 살펴보는 이 전시를 통하여 진지한 고민과 창작의 행위에 공감대를 형성하고 한국 현대미술의 다양한 현상을 살피는 소중한 시간이 되기를 희망합니다.

The Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art is pleased to present “The Breath of Fresh 2018: Hard-boiled & Toxic”, an exhibition organized by the Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation to support promising artists in the Gyeonggi region.

The Breath of Fresh 2018, Gyeonggi-do’s representative visual arts support program, provides ten promising artists from Gyeonggi-do with systematic assistance throughout the entire process of creating a work of art, as well as hosting a workshop and organizing the exhibition.

The participating artists, NAYOUNGIM & GREGORY S. MAASS, KIM DONGHYUN, KIM EUNHYUNG, PARK HYESOO, SONG MINCHUL, YUN SUNGJI, EUNSOOK, JUN HYERIM, HONG KIWON, HONG NAMKEE, are all dedicated in their own way to exploring the boundaries of the modern world to broad themes ranging from their own personal interests to the structure of modern society. Rather than focusing on direct expression or explanation, they disinterestedly reproduce or rearrange the inside of the “incomplete” society facing us and our own inner world as members of that society in an attempt to penetrate its fundamental nature.

I hope that this exhibition will provide an opportunity to look into the characteristics of modern society and the participating artists’ perspectives on it, as well as a precious time for deliberation, appreciation of creativity, and exploration of the phenomena of Korean contemporary art.
